Description

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is the utilization of the ketamine medication within a therapy session, along with integration therapy sessions after each medicine session. An increasing number of clinics are offering ketamine medication treatment as a stand-alone treatment, without any psychotherapy or integration services. Great Salt Lake Wellness and Satori Health are on a mission to train mental health clinicians in the ethical use and administration of ketamine treatment via the Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy protocol. Pairing the ketamine medication with talk therapy and integration services facilitates a more robust outcome. Ketamine is the “tool” used in KAP, but the psychotherapy and processing of unresolved trauma and underlying issues is what typically helps treat the mood disorder.
