Description

The brutal killing of George Floyd has sparked renewed interest in ending racial injustice for Black Americans.  Though much of the focus has been directed at reforming the criminal justice system, other institutions are engaged in self-examination to improve their treatment of Black Americans.  Evidence of disparities in exposure to psychological trauma, prevalence of some mental illnesses, and utilization of professional services suggest that psychologists can do more to improve the lives of Black Americans.  This workshop will provide education on key historical events, relevant terminiology, pertinent psychological theory, ethical considerations, and empirical evidence pertaining to African American mental health.

Online check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.
