Black Male Suicide: Assessment and Intervention
Length: 3.0 Hours

This training specifically addresses the 100% increase since 1980, of black male suicide. As black males may present atypical suicide symptoms and behaviors, identifying often overlooked psychological, environmental, and socio-political factors is imperative in assessment and intervention.

This session is at the introductory level and is designed for psychologists and other mental health professionals.

Objectives:

  1. Integrate and normalize clinical knowledge of Black male mental health in their own practices.
  2. Complete culturally-competent assessments and interventions for black males at suicide risk.
  3. List post-suicide ethics, boundaries and response protocols for African American care givers.
